Scope 2 Reporting

Certification that meets the RE100 requirement

I-REC standard | Providing Global Acceptance

We Provide your evidence

An increasing number of companies around the world are actively reporting their scope 2 emissions to CDP, RE100 and other organizations. These companies are committed to consume as much as renewable electricity as possible whereas some companies, which are part of RE100, are committed to consume 100% renewables biomass (including biogas), geothermal, solar, hydro, and wind. As such, these companies are in need of a reliable way to prove their renewable consumption. All consumed electricity, except for unmetered electricity generation that is consumed by the end-user before passing through a meter, must be accounted for with a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC). This means that regardless of the procurement method (e.g. PPA or Single Delivery), the REC is the cornerstone of all renewable energy usage claims. I-RECs (the type of REC used in Thailand) have been referenced as meeting the RE100 and CDP requirements and provided key quality references for the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Scope 2 Guidance.

EGAT is able to provide its services to any domain and can also support regulatory authorities in their undertaking of this function. EGAT is a key delivery partner for the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) Standard. The I-REC Standard is at the forefront of the global market for renewable energy products and its formation drew upon our extensive expertise in implementing renewable energy mechanisms in many countries to provide a uniform reporting solution.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between RECs and Carbon Offsets?

RECs and Carbon Offsets are two different instruments. RECs are measured in terms of electricity units and are used to validate the consumption of electricity from renewable sources. On the other hand, Carbon Offsets are measured in units of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) and are used to represent the reductions/avoidance of greenhouse gas emissions.
